Veteran unfunny comedian, Hugh Nichols, visits comedy partner Tony Bromley in a hospice. Tony is dying of liver cancer and is a funny comedian. Hugh intends to settle their differences and tell him that he loves him, but already by Tony’s bedside is younger ambitious comedian, Paul Hanwell. Tony had helped Paul early on in his comedy career. However, his career has now stagnated. Paul has always resented Hugh for ‘holding Tony back’ and preventing Tony from becoming his comedy partner and tonight he wants to make him suffer.
