Hedley England started in television many years ago as a film editor at LWT where he worked on most of their entertainment programmes.   He later directed for LWT, working with Danny Baker, Chris Tarrant and Emma Freud.

Hedley also wrote and directed a short drama film, and sold it to the UK cinema and HBO, and recently has been making arts documentaries, such as a film on
the jazz drummer Billy Cobham.  He is looking to work in drama, stage or screen.

Writing aspirations began with a comedy script written about Putney Heath, and Charlie Drake wanted to star in it, but Hedley couldn’t get television interest.   He was lined up to write for Dempsey and Makepeace after the script editor liked his storylines, but alas, the following series was cancelled. He has also written a spec script for Robin of Sherwood, another spec script for a Radio 4 afternoon play, a TAPS script, and is currently developing a 60’ TV pilot script, and re-writing a first draft of a stage play, The Narcissus Club which has had a reading.
