The Winning Post

by

Lawrence McCambridge-Audini

To be read by awl on Monday 19th May 2008

The daily tribulations, traumas and trails of Mr Jeffery Potter BA (hons) as he tries to bring an air of sophistication and decorum to the running of a local neighbourhood betting shop. With a Scots owner, who makes Attila the Hun seem tame, a cashier who thinks sophistication is a sexually transmitted disease and decorum a new cocktail, an assistant manager, Steve, who dreams of being Dorothy in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and a clientele who consider a good night out is eight pints of ‘wallop’ and a grope in a back alley, he really has his work cut out.
