P.O.E.T.S. Day

by

Martin Baum

To be read by awl on Monday 3rd July 2006

All is rosy in the world of wannabe poet Brian Pringle. His arty friends are coming for tea, but the last thing he is expecting is a visit from Morris, his good-for-nothing, petty criminal older brother. The situation is compounded still further when his Harley Davidson loving nut of a dad arrives with some unexpected news that has serious repercussions for both his sons.

Will Brian become a successful poet? Can Morris stay on the straight and narrow? Is dad ever going to stop wearing his embarrassing motorbike leathers? And who exactly is Byron Cavendish?

Brian: Would-be poet. Late twenties.
James Bradshaw
Morris: Mid- to late thirties. Always on the lookout for any opportunities, dubious or otherwise.
Gary James
Arthur: Father to Brian and Morris. A widower in his late fifties - early sixties. A motorbike enthusiast always dressed in bikers’ leathers.
Brendan Gregory
Gloria: Late thirties, Arthur’s dolly-bird girlfriend.
Gilda Waugh
Conrad: A leading figure in the arts. A very tactile man.
Martin Wimbush
Angelica: Conrad’s vamp-like companion.
Lucy Appleby
George: Scene six - audience member at one of Brian’s recitals.
