A Grave Situation

by

Viv Lake

Read by awl on Monday 28th April 2008

Fred is acting mysteriously. Wife Hilda and daughter Sharon are becoming increasingly worried about him. Is he going through a mid-life crisis? Has he lost his mind? Is his behaviour an adverse reaction to the fish-paste sandwiches? Why is he spending so much time alone in the spare bedroom, and when will it all stop?

Hilda
Fred’s wife. Late fifties, old fashioned attitudes, naïve, gullible, a worrier, not very bright, uses malapropisms
Jenny Patrick
Fred
Husband of Hilda, Yorkshireman, strong Yorks accent, early sixties, working class. Mindful of the cost of living. Stereotypical northern patriarchal head of family
Martin Cort
Sharon
Fred and Hilda’s daughter, early twenties, a hairdresser and beautician. More modern and brighter than her parents
Carole Carpenter
Sound
Michael Murray
Directed by
Robin Marchal
